Five summits of this name are recorded in the State of Utah, in four counties. This sheet documents the entry in Washington County, ratified by decision of the United States Board on Geographic Names in 1959.

Local usage attributes the name in Kane County to a settler who is said to have applied it to the landform in honour of his wife. No such account is on file for the Washington County entry, and the Department has not sought one.

A decorous alternative was available. Sugarloaf Butte and Sugar Loaf Butte are both recorded as variant names of this summit. The Board went the other way.
